There is a certain light in the Mediterranean.
It dances on the water at dawn.
It glows against whitewashed harbours at dusk.
It calls you past the shoreline, toward something older, deeper, freer.
At New Latitudes Sailing, we answer that call, offering premium sailing experiences and accreditations for women, as well as bespoke sailing experiences for all groups of friends and individual clients.
Shape your own unforgettable sailing adventure around the islands.
For solo travellers, couples, or smaller groups of friends.
Internationally recognised courses for Competent Crew, Day Skipper, up to Offshore Yacht Master.
Hands-on seamanship, real responsibility, and powerful growth — all in spectacular surroundings.
We offer women’s group sailing experiences, and, for those interested, international yachting certifications, aboard the beautiful Latitud 6, our 52-foot Jeanneau yacht. Join us for 7 or 14 days this year in the picturesque Balearic Islands. We also offer bespoke charters for mixed groups.
Having an all-female crew changes the dynamic on the boat in a way that’s hard to explain until you’ve experienced it. Mike’s observation is consistent: women in this environment are fully present, ask lots of questions, and learn faster. He has fashioned New Latitudes’ offerings around a desire to see more women engaging with sailing with confidence in their knowledge and abilities.
Onboard, everyone has plenty of time to rotate through positions — helm, sails, navigation, docking, anchoring, with an appreciation of preferences and abilities. Each guest gets the time and instruction they want, with no pressure on a fixed set of outcomes or need to achieve to a certain level.
We know this approach works. Our female guests tend to return, to bring new friends, to organise their own groups. Some even travel each year from Australia.
It’s also, reliably, a lot of fun. You’ll be surprised how quickly you relax into the flow.
“There’s a specific kind of freedom that comes from being in a group of women figuring something out together. No one’s performing. No one’s holding back.”
— Sarah, guest
“Mike made everyone feel part of a sailing family. The numbers being small meant we all genuinely got to know each other.”
— Guest, Sardinia/Corsica trip
A steadier voice.
A wider sense of possibility.
A memory of wind in your hair and sun on your face — and the knowledge that you steered your own course.
The sea has a way of reminding you what you are capable of.
The majority of our women sailors return in subsequent years — sometimes with the same friends, sometimes joining a group of new faces. They want more of the feeling that new and different brings, the sense of freedom, and of pride in achievement, because there’s always more to learn, and sailing encourages you to evolve.
A first trip might be about getting comfortable on the water and learning the basics. The following year, the same woman might want to tackle longer passages, or focus on sailing two-handed so she can do it with a partner. Another year, she might arrive already confident and simply want a week of exceptional sailing in a new location.
Everyone is different. Every group has different needs.
“I was able to build on what I’d learnt on previous trips. Each time I arrive, it feels familiar — and then quickly goes somewhere new.”
— Guest, returning for third year
“I’ve been sailing with Mike for five and a half years. There’s nobody whose knowledge I trust more.”
— Andrea, Director of Operations
